An office chair is a very important piece of furniture. When you think of it, you are going to sit on it for almost 2,000 hours a year. More if you work more than 40 hours a week, which most of us seem to be doing in this pandemic. So, it is imperative that you get the right office chair. With the right chair, you can keep spine problems at bay, avoid back pain and maximize your productivity. Here’s a fantastic place to buy office chairs in the UK.

So, what should you look for when choosing an office chair? We have got just the tips for you.

    Lumbar support is everything

The lumbar or lower back is the part of the back that comes under most stress when sitting. It is absolutely critical that this part of the back is supported with a curvature in your office chair. So, first things first, look for lumbar support. This is usually provided in office chairs in the form of a curve in the chair or in the form of a support that is built onto a movable rack against the back of the chair, giving you adjustability. The bottomline is that your lower back should rest against something and not round itself without any support. It is absolutely critical that you get this part of the chair right.

    Swivel base

Get a chair with a full swivel base. A swiveling base allows you to make several micro adjustments to your posture as you do things on your desk. From simply grabbing your mouse to reaching over for that coffee mug, a swiveling base helps ease the load of various muscles that allow you to work without tiring out. Speaking of swivel chairs, here’s a link for swivel chairs if you are looking for the kind to use in your living room, as opposed to your office. While a swivel base is important, so is a wheelbase. In fact, without a wheelbase, a swivel chair is kind of useless as it will require you to stand up to move the chair around into a comfortable position.

    Breathable back

A mesh fabric back is very important for ventilation. If you are going to be engrossed in busy work, chances are that you aren’t going to get up a lot. When such is the case, you want your back to breathe. Leather fabrics or thick fabrics that snugly rub against your clothes will leave you feeling hot, flushed and even sweaty and stink in some cases. These are all of course things that you want to avoid when using an office chair.

    Adjustable height

Make sure your office chair has an adjustable height. This is important as you will need to get it under your table. Also, remember that your eyes have to be up to a level that meets the top of your monitor. If you are too low or too high, it can put an immense strain on your neck or eyes. Simply adjusting your chair’s height will fix such problems.
