Floor lamps are something that we wouldn’t think twice about placing in our homes, having never thought about how they were different from the other lighting fixtures. But as is often the case with home items, there is a wide variety of floor lamps out there to choose from floor lamps at UnionLighting.com.

When choosing a new lamp for your home, it’s important to consider what type of lamp you’re getting into. Each type of floor lamp requires a different consideration when it comes to positioning, making them worth an additional look before you commit.

Read on to know more about different types of floor lamps and the considerations for each one!

    • Torchiere Lamp

Torchiere lamps get their name from their tall pole that extends upward. They are typically placed in the center of a room with one end pointing towards the ceiling and the other pointing towards the wall. Usually, they have shades that not only protect the bulbs but also reflect light off of them. Torchiere lamps are perfect for setting a mood through lights or as task lighting to read by.

    • Club Lamp

Club lamps are nothing but twisted and old-fashioned style lamp that looks as if they were made in the mid-1800s. They are made with a round base and a thick vertical pole extending off of the base. The base has a ball at the bottom, which is where all of the weights on the lamp will attach. Club lamps work well in living rooms, and people who want a cozy mood will love them.

    • Task Lamp

A task lamp is meant to give off a lot of light in a very focused area. These lamps usually come with an adjustable arm that allows you to focus the light onto where it’s needed. They are great to use as desk lamps or reading lights. Most of them have an adjustable arm that can be set at any length, making them perfect for almost any space.

    • Swing Arm lamp

Swing arm lamps have a very similar appearance to task lamps but instead of an adjustable arm, they have an adjustable pole. It is designed to be placed next to items such as a desk or bed where you will need focused light. The top of the pole usually has a lamp shade that can be adjusted for focused light.
