The coronavirus pandemic has made us lazy. We are just sitting in bed and watching movies or doing the job. It’s not the integral part of our life to sit on the bed and do everything. But, we often forget that we have to take care of the home. Cleaning the house, laundry, washing dishes, etc. is still part of our lives, just like washing the comforter at home. The laundromats and dry cleaner are closed due to social distancing rules. So, we usually have to wash the comforter at home.

If you are the one who finds washing the comforter at home difficult, don’t think so. All you have to do is to follow some simple steps to clean the comforters at home. It’s a simple process, and you don’t have to worry. Here are all of the Comforter washing steps you should follow.

How to Wash Comforters at Home

#1 – Choose the Right Detergent and Conditioner

Washing starts with the detergent and ends with the conditioner. The detergent and conditioner combo is what helps you clean the comforter. Choosing the right detergent is quite easy. All you have to do is to check out the instruction label on the quilt. The instruction labels tell you about the type of fabric. After that, get the detergent that’s suitable for the specific material. You can get any detergent, but a wrong detergent may damage the fabric of the comforter. You won’t get the same comforting experience after washing it with the unsuitable detergent. Also, rinsing it in the fabric conditioner helps smoothen the fabric. It provides additional fragrance to the comforter.

    #2 – Washing Style

You should wash only one comforter at a time. There should be no other comforter or other cloth in the machine. It’s the essential rules that you should follow at any cost. Washing them with the other clothes will stain the comforter. Normal stains are okay, but the color stains won’t go away. It’s the significant risk to wash white comforters with other colored clothes. So, keeping everything separate is the ideal thing.

    #3 – Spot Washing

If your comforter has stains on it, then spot washing is ideal. In this method, all you have to do is apply a detergent on the affected area, i.e., the stain. Now, rub the detergent all over the stained area. This will let detergent start working on releasing the stains. Keep it as it is for a few minutes. After that, rinse the area with little water and voila! You’ve removed the stains. After this, you can proceed with the actual washing process.

#4 – Use optimal Dryer settings

Overheating the comforter will cause it to shrink. It’s not ideal to use high heat for drying the comforter. You should always sun-dry the comforter. This will prevent any heat damage, and naturally dry the comforter. If using the dryer is necessary, make sure to use the lowest heat settings.

Regular washing cycles will keep the comforter in good condition. It’s the right time to wash the comforters to get a good night’s sleep. So this is all you should know about washing comforters and quilts at home. You should not sleep with a dirty comforter, as it will ruin your sleep experience.
