Many homeowners often ask – ‘Should I really hire an interior designer?’. There is no denying that an interior design service brings experience and expertise to the table, and they can actually bring your ideas to life. In places like Philadelphia, known names like Susan Hopkins Interior Design have worked with clients extensively to offer advice & functional solutions. So, how do you choose the right interior designer for your project? We have a guide below that may come in handy.

    1. Start with experience. Interior designers are expected to have a fair idea of trends, latest practices, and they need to be experienced. Don’t shy away from asking about their area of specialization, the type of homes they commonly design, and if they have expertise in commercial work too.
    2. Check their profile. The portfolio of an interior designer can help you decide if they are the right fit for your home needs. Check some of their recent work, and it is completely okay to ask for references. Make sure that you check their profile in depth, to understand themes in their work.
    3. Discuss your needs. Do you have specific expectations from a project? Are you fond of certain design ideas? Have you liked a theme and would want something similar? The idea is to find an interior designer who can actually work with you extensively and can align their expertise with your requirements.
    4. Check for budget. This one is a no-brainer. The interior design service you choose has to fit your budget, and during the first appointment, you have to let them what you intend to spend. Or else, you can let the designer come up with ideas and an estimate, and decide if the numbers work for you.
    5. Ask for deadlines. This is again and important factor. You need to be sure that the interior designer can deliver on time, especially if you want your home to be ready within a certain time. Ensure that the designer has given you a timeline of work.

Finally, insist on getting regular updates and staying contact. You would want the interior designer to be accessible for reports and feedback.
