3 questions to ask a roofer in Fort Worth

Texas weather can impact your home’s roofing in many ways. If you have found evident signs of damage, such as visible leaks on the ceiling and damaged shingles, you need to call a roofing contractor immediately. Services like Reilly Roofing & Gutters have been around in Fort Worth for years and know the local communities. However, before you hire any roofer, here are the three questions you need to ask.

    Are you licensed and insured?

This is as basic as possible – You need a licensed roofer. Licensing details are often shared with the client on request, and you can expect them to inform you about the number of years they have been in the roofing business. Ask the company if they are locally owned and operated in Fort Worth. Insurance is one of the key pointers that homeowners often ignore. The work done by roofing experts involves risks and workplace concerns, and it’s best to work with a roofer who has liability insurance. Ask the company if they are a member of local bodies, such as the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas (RCAT).

    What’s included in the estimate?

First and foremost, stay away from contractors who are ready to share an estimate on the call. Instead, insist on an inspection so that they are aware of the roofing issues and can offer a detailed quote. Ask the contractor about the inclusions. The roofing estimate should mention all possible costs, including labor charges, applicable taxes, and the cost of a preventive maintenance plan (if any). Do not accept an offer at face value.

What does your roofing contract include?

Many local companies do not have a contract with the client, but this is not something to be ignored. A roofing contract should include details like names and addresses of both parties, the scope of the job, insurance details, responsibilities of each party, timeline for the project, warranties if applicable, rebates as promises, and a final price.

    Bottom line

When it comes to roofing work, experience matters more than any else. Find a company that has been working in your community in Fort Worth for years. Many roofers don’t have employees but engage subcontractors when needed, and obviously, you need to avoid those. Go for a company that offers some warranty on the roofing repairs and at least a 20-year guarantee on new replacements and installations. Also, do check the reviews of a roofing service before you hire them.
