A personal injury case occurs when you get injured due to someone else’s negligence. Whatever damages you incur from the incident, the responsible party is liable to pay for them with their own money or insurance.

If someone injures you, you should not have to pay thousands of dollars because of their neglect. Therefore, you must know what constitutes personal injury and when you are allowed to take legal actions. Not all injuries result in liability. You must consult a Wyoming injury lawyer to determine whether or not you have a personal injury case.

    Types of personal injury cases

    • Car accidents

Car accidents are among the top most common personal injury cases. Car accidents occur due to at least one party’s negligence. If the other party was not obeying the traffic rules and caused the mishap, you may have a case. You must provide evidence that the accident occurred because of the other party’s fault and provide necessary proof such as medical reports, witnesses of the accident, etc.

    • Medical malpractice

Medical malpractice involves getting injured due to the negligence or carelessness of your doctor, nurse, and any other hospital staff. When health care professionals fail to provide a certain standard of treatment to a patient, which results in an injury, it is regarded as medical malpractice.

    • Slip and fall

A slip and fall case refers to falling on another person’s property and injuring yourself. Usually, property owners have an obligation to keep their premises clean and safe. If there is a hazard, they must remove it or put a warning sign near it to help people avoid that area. If they fail to do so, they are liable for your injuries. Then again, whether the landowner had a duty of care depends on the situation.

    • Defamation

If someone has been speaking wrongfully about you and spreading false rumors, you can file a case of defamation against them. If a person’s untrue statements have caused harm to your reputation resulting in financial losses, you are allowed to get compensation for that. However, you must prove that the comments made by them were actually incorrect.

    • Product liability

Product liability refers to the harm incurred by the use of defective and dangerous products. Companies and manufacturers are responsible for providing you with a safe product and putting warning labels wherever necessary. The failure to do this may cause serious harm to one’s health. Product liability may include defective manufacturing of a car, harmful drugs, bad consumer products, etc. If an unsafe product has harmed you, you can file a claim against their company.
