The most efficient way to introduce wider space into a house is to raise the existing renovation underneath. There are various methods of raising the house. However, some techniques are popular than others for house lifting in New Jersey, e.g. the procedures that are utilized for raising the timber-subfloor homes.

House raising requires numerous planning and forethoughts. Following is an overview of the procedure:

    1. Analyzing the existing vs. proposed plan

To identify whether the house needs raising or sliding or not it’s important to make a comparison between the existing structure and the proposed raising plan. It’s also important to consider the process of modifying the existing structure based on how much does it cost to raise a house.

After that, one should plan the series of events to be performed and also the sight-specific activities that would best serve the purpose of transitioning from the existing to the proposed structure.

    2. Site surveying

The site surveying can be done with the help of a surveying company. This company would assist you to obtain the on-site pins, determine the boundaries, and distinguish the proposed floor heights and house location.

    3. Checking the location of the current house structure

After site surveying, it’s necessary to set up the on-site profiles depending on the surveying points. This step would help you to recheck the presumed and actual measurements and calculations about how much does it cost to raise a house on-site.

    4. Demolishment of the lowest level and removal of the asbestos

In this step, you may require the assistance of an expert asbestos demolition service to eliminate the asbestos material from the house (site). The demolishment involves the raising of ceiling linings, internal and external walls, leaving only the compulsory structural elements that support the existing structure of the house.

    5. Installing steel beams and timber styes

These steel beams should be engineer-specified and are compulsory for the new structure. Installing these steel beams would facilitate the smooth raising of the house. Besides, timber styes are the major part of the basic foundation of the house.

    6. Lifting the house using hydraulic jacks

These jacks are placed under the steel beams and are used to push the basic structure up on one side.

    7. Re-installation of steel beams and tyes

Repetition of the 5th step is performed until the house reaches a particular height.

    8. Digging post holes and placing the new posts

After the holes are dug using the Earthworks machine, measurements should be taken for the new steel posts installation. Then, the posts would be placed, secured with concrete, and would be waterproofed.

    9. Dropping the house

The last step of house lifting in New Jersey is to lower the house using the hydraulic jacks and fixing the structure together.

Thus, house raising offers new space, and often doubles the overall size of the house, without encroaching on the front and back yards.
